Aurat is a Los Angeles-based band that bridges cultural identity with an experimental alternative sound. Named after the Urdu word for woman, the band blends together many genres (fans have mentioned genres like)/ gothic rock, EBM, coldwave, and post-punk with lyrics sung primarily in Urdu. One of the few bands in the global scene to fuse South Asian language and identity with the sonic traditions of the underground, Aurat creates music that is both deeply personal and unmistakably their own.

 The band consists of vocalist Azeka Kamal, Gil Talbot(bass, production), Nev Ver (guitar, production, second vocals), and Alex Lichtenauer (drums). Together, Aurat crafts immersive sounds that explore themes of grief, identity, transformation, love, and resilience. The band creates music that transcends language while remaining deeply rooted in cultural authenticity.

Since their formation, Aurat has cultivated a dedicated following within the international dark music community through their uncompromising artistic visionand emotionally charged live performances. Their discography including the self- titled Aurat EP,Image, Poison, Khaar, and latest EP release, Cobra documents the band's continual evolution.

 While Aurat has continued to perform and release produced tracks , the band has not released full band material since 2020. Years marked by personal growth, loss, healing, and creative awakening have shaped a new chapter, culminating in their long awaited album , set for release this fall. The new record reflects both the band's evolution and a renewed artistic vision, marking the beginning of Aurat's next era.
