On June 24th, 2022, the Supreme Court made the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, thus removing the constitutional right to CHOOSE to have an abortion. “Embryo,” out today viaGet Better Records, addresses just that—VIAL is back with aggressive, unequivocal lyricism, criticizing the decision to restrict abortion access in America, paired with forceful instrumentation lead forth by a driving guitar riff. VIAL is dedicated to donating all profits from this release toGender Justice, a nonprofit dedicated to “creating a world where everyone can thrive regardless of their gender, gender expression, or sexual orientation by dismantling legal, structural, and cultural barriers that contribute to gender inequity,” and theNational Network of Abortion Funds, who “builds power with members to remove financial and logistical barriers to abortion access by centering people who have abortions and organizing at the intersections of racial, economic, and reproductive justice.”

Of the single, VIAL says: The “Embryo” lyrics were written as a cathartic release of anger and fear after hearing about the “Supreme” Court’s decision to take away ours and so many other peoples’ federal and constitutional rights to an abortion.

We hope that this song can not only be cathartic for us in the midst of this dangerous new ruling, but to others who are struggling with their feelings of fear, anger, and loss of trust towards the United States government for allowing this to happen. This overturning is setting a dangerous precedent for the future of many marginalized communities’ rights and freedoms in the United States of America.

It is extremely important to us that any profit made from this song is given to the communities most severely impacted by this ruling. Releasing “Embryo” and donating all the profits to the National Network of Abortion Funds and Gender Justice is VIAL’s small way of fighting back.
